New Mayor and Deputy Mayor
South Gippsland Shire Council is pleased to announce a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for South Gippsland. Councillor John Schelling was elected Mayor following the Mayoral Election at Wednesday's council meeting. Councillor Sarah Gilligan was elected as Deputy Mayor. Councillor Gilligan will remain in these positions for the next 12 months.

Councillor John Schelling, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council, said, "I would like to sincerely thank my fellow councillors for the opportunity to be Mayor, and for supporting me in this role. I've thoroughly enjoyed the last three years at council and look forward to the next four where we can continue to build a strong and united South Gippsland. I would also like to thank my family for supporting me to take on this new role."
Councillor Sarah Gilligan, Deputy Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "Thank you to my fellow councillors for trusting me to do the role of Deputy Mayor. I look forward to being part of a leadership team that understands the importance of teamwork. Mayor Schelling and I are committed to upholding the reputation and high function of this council to enable good decision making for the good of the whole Shire. Let's do this thing!"

Walk against family violence
Raise awareness of gender equity and family violence prevention. Wear orange and join us on Wednesday 4 December at 12.30. The walk will start at the front of Memorial Hall in Leongatha. Christmas giving tree
South Gippsland Shire Council has teamed up with the Salvation Army once again to be a collection point for this year's Christmas Food and Gift Drive. If you can, we encourage you all to help bring a smile to someone's face this Christmas by placing unwrapped children's toys, books and clothes, as well as non-perishable food items under our tree. Donations will be accepted at the Leongatha office (open Mon and Wed 10.00am to 3.00pm) until Thursday 12 December.

Fish Creek streetscape
South Gippsland Shire Council is preparing to commence streetscape works along Falls Road in Fish Creek. The Project will help to improve pedestrian and driver movement, increase visual appeal and improve functionality.

Green waste amnesty
Council's Green Waste Amnesty is on now until 31 December 2024. Residents can dispose of their green waste for free at any of council's transfer stations until the end of the Amnesty period.
