Movies under stars

The outdoor screenings transformed the GPAC precinct into a relaxed and welcoming space for families, friends, and visitors to enjoy live entertainment from 5.30pm, followed by a movie under the stars at 8pm. Food trucks were on site each night, adding to the festive atmosphere. Despite a rescheduling due to extreme temperatures, strong attendance across all four events highlighted the community's enthusiasm for accessible family-friendly experiences.

The series opened in December with the Christmas favourite Elf, and January continued with How to Train Your Dragon, Sing 2 and Wonka. Each night featured local entertainment including Fairy Julianne and DJ Boom and was complete with local food vendors such as NEIRBOS EATS, That Charcoal Meat Guy, 3 Bears BBQ, Let's Wing It and Whipped Ice Cream.

These events reflect Council's commitment to providing free, inclusive and enjoyable experiences that encourage people to come together and make the most of shared community spaces. With the incredible turnout, further events were added, including Lilo and Stitch on Friday 6 February 2026 and Cool Runnings on Friday 20 February.

Celebrating summer nights

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, is delighted seeing the community come together. "GPAC has put on an incredible Summer Nights program. The community wanted more, we listened and we were delivering!"

"When Summer Nights events are on, remember to grab your family or get some friends together. So, get out your beanbags and snacks and head on down for one of the best nights Latrobe has to offer, said the Mayor.

GPAC's 2026 program continues with a range of exciting upcoming events, including Toni Childs on Friday 13 February, Queen Forever on Saturday 14 February, Willow House's Forever 80s Mental Health Fundraiser on Saturday 21 February, and Australia's renowned illusionist Cosentino on Friday 20 March. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on GPAC's website and social channels for more events throughout the year.
