Kay Street Car Park construction progressing smoothly, delivering major new parking capacity for Traralgon CBD by 2026Construction of Traralgon’s five-level Kay Street Car Park is progressing on schedule for mid-2026, delivering 430 new CBD spaces and supporting local businesses, accessibility, and future regional growth. By news@gippsland - 27th November 2025 - Back to News Construction works on the Kay Street Car Park in Traralgon are progressing well, with the third-level concrete pour now complete and preparation advanced for the fourth. The project is remaining on schedule for completion mid-2026. 
Kay Street Car Park construction is on track, with multiple levels underway, set to deliver expanded CBD parking and improved access by mid-2026 Traralgon Car ParkOnce finished, the multi-level car park will span five levels, replacing the existing car park located between Kay and Grey Streets delivering additional parking capacity to support nearby businesses, improve access to the central business district, and enhance safety and convenience for residents and visitors. Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman said the project identified in the endorsed Traralgon Activity Centre Plan, represented further investment in important infrastructure across the municipality, which has seen some 350 car parks already completed across Traralgon, Morwell and Moe. "We're pleased to see this key project progressing on time and on budget. It will provide a much-needed boost to local parking capacity and support the ongoing growth of our CBD precinct. We acknowledge and thank the local businesses adjacent to the construction site for their patience and understanding during the works. Their cooperation has been greatly appreciated as we bring this project to life which will see an additional 430 spaces in Traralgon's central business district," said the Mayor. Carpark design highlightThe project is being delivered by local company BFN Developments on behalf of Latrobe City Council. General Manager BFN Developments, Jye Neilson, said the five-storey public carpark facility in the CBD of Traralgon includes three stair wells, two lobbies and two lifts, and has a focus on design. "The exterior of the building is complemented by an architectural perforated cladding system and there are public amenities provided on the ground floor. It's great to see so much emphasis put on the aesthetics of the design of this building, which will be a prominent feature in Traralgon's CBD due to its height." "Building the facility includes being sensitive to the operating environment which includes many businesses surrounding the site. The carpark will be an incredible asset for our community, making it easier for locals and visitors to access the area and supporting future growth, developments and events," said Mr Neilson. The project is part of the Victorian Government's Regional Car Parks Fund (RCPF), which will deliver 900 new car spaces across Traralgon, Morwell and Moe. Pictures from Latrobe City Council website.
