Hay bales for farmers

Earlier this week, the call went out to our community to donate whatever feed they could for farmers affected by the Victorian bushfires. And once again, our community has delivered - generously donating more than 100 bales of hay, along with a wide range of animal feed including dog and cat food.

If you would like to get involved, please drop off feed at the Korumburra Showgrounds. Need For Feed will be accepting donations until Saturday 17 January. Check out the initiative on the video, more information can be found at Need for Feed website.

Stay cool in hot weather

With more hot weather likely over the coming months, here are some tips for the next sweltering day:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Never leave kids, adults or pets in cars
  • Keep cool by seeking out air-conditioned buildings, using a fan
  • Taking cool showers and dressing in light, loose clothing made from natural fabrics
  • Schedule activities in the coolest part of the day and avoid exercising in the heat. If you go out, wear a hat and sunscreen and take a bottle of water with you
  • Look after those most at risk in the heat - your friends and family or your neighbour living alone, the elderly, the young, people with a medical condition and your furry family members too

Help local wildlife by placing containers of different sizes around your yard, ideally in shaded areas. Add rocks or sticks so small animals can drink safely, and remember to top them up regularly.

Stay safe in hot weather: drink water, stay cool, protect vulnerable people and pets, dress lightly, and care for wildlife

Meeniyan Hub wins awards

The Meeniyan Hub won gold last year at the 2025 ArchiTeam Awards, which aims to celebrate the creativity and innovation of Australia's medium to small, emerging architects.

Public Realm Lab, the architects who designed the building, won both the ArchiTeam Medal and the Community and Public Award.

The judges described the project as thoughtful, taking into careful consideration of the location - while still committing to sustainability and delivering lasting civic value. You can read more about the awards at Architeam website.
