Reducing gambling harm

In 2024-25, gambling losses in Latrobe City totalled $50.1 million to electronic gaming machines alone, equivalent to $829 per adult, which is $254 more than the Victorian average. These losses impact people's health, housing, employment and relationships, with young people among those most at risk.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman said it's important for the community to come together to better understand the impacts of gambling harm. "We want Latrobe City to be a community where everyone can live healthy, connected and supported lives."

"We can all help to prevent harmful gambling by spotting the signs, like stress and irritability, frequently borrowing money and difficulty sleeping or concentrating. Setting limits before you gamble and sticking to them is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of harm," said Cr Harriman.
