Southern Rural Water supports South West Victorian farmers through groundwater access and the 'Farmer Helping Farmer' initiativeA section of the Main Northern Channel near Brewers Hill Road, Maffra, damaged by wombats, has been repaired. Water will return to full capacity, and normal delivery will resume tomorrow. By news@gippsland - 8th October 2025 - Back to News We have successfully repaired a small section of the Main Northern Channel that was leaking approximately 400 meters North off Brewers Hill Road, Maffra. The leak had been caused by damage done from wombats burrowing along the channel. 
Southern Rural Water repaired the leaking Main Northern Channel section near Brewers Hill Road, caused by wombat burrows, and it will return to full capacity the next day We can confirm the channel will be filled to full capacity by tomorrow morning. We would like to thank customers for your patience during the works and look forward to resuming normal water delivery service.
