South Gippsland Shire Council celebrates major project milestones and strong financial performance, and achievements in 2024/25 Annual Report

South Gippsland Shire Council's 2024/25 Annual Report highlights major infrastructure projects, strong financial management, expanded community services, and full achievement of Council Plan initiatives across the past 12 months.

The report details 12 months of significant project achievements and sound fiscal management. At its October Council Meeting, South Gippsland Shire Council formally adopted its 2024/25 Annual Report.

Celebrate community achievements

The report highlights key achievements, including:

  • Delivery of the $2.35 million Meeniyan Community Hub
  • Completion of the Korumburra-Bena Football and Netball changerooms upgrade in partnership with the Victorian and Australian governments
  • Upgrading Nelson Street, Foster and sealing North Poowong Road under the Sealed Road Rehabilitation Program
  • Installation of new public toilets, a playground, and a connecting ramp in Leongatha as part of the Railway Revitalisation Project
  • Securing $2.4 million from the Australian government to realign the Simons Lane intersection with the Bass Highway
  • Advocating for and securing a new childcare and kindergarten facility in Meeniyan, opening in 2026
  • Distributing $263,151 in Community, Emergency, and Small Grants to support local volunteer-led groups
  • Adopting the Renewable Energy Impact and Readiness Study, leading to the removal of most of South Gippsland from the proposed Renewable Energy Zone
  • Achieving all 21 annual initiatives in the 2022-2026 Council Plan
  • Expanding immunisation services to Nyora, Welshpool, and Venus Bay, improving access to essential healthcare
  • Maintaining 100 per cent infant enrolments in Maternal and Child Health services
  • Delivery of the Live4Life youth mental health program, including family-inclusive launches outside school hours
