Hospital building upgrades

Part of the Sale Hospital precinct, the Community Services Building is home to a range of essential healthcare services, including outpatient care, consulting rooms, and administrative offices. Funded through the Labor government's Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), the restoration and refurbishment project will transform the building inside and out.

Major works have strengthened the historic building's foundations and enhanced the second and third-floor balconies to ensure long-term structural integrity for generations to come. The project also includes upgrades to the roof, windows, doors and facade, along with a fresh coat of paint to revitalise the iconic building.

Inside, upgrades are now underway to improve the kitchen, bathrooms and common areas, creating modern spaces to support the staff and residents who provide such essential health care in the community.

Supporting regional healthcare

The building also provides short-term accommodation for visiting doctors, students and healthcare workers - playing an important role in training the next generation of health professionals. Operated by Central Gippsland Health, Sale Hospital delivers essential services like emergency care, planned surgery, maternity and aged care as well as a range of important community-based programs.

The RHIF - now worth $790 million - provides critical funding for rural and regional health services right across Victoria, ensuring communities can continue to receive safe and high-quality care close to home.

Investing in healthcare

Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne said, "This investment is about more than just bricks and mortar - it's about creating safe, modern spaces that support our incredible regional healthcare workers and the communities they serve. Our Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is supporting health services and hospitals across the state - ensuring all Victorians, no matter where you live - can access the very best care."

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh said, "The upgraded Community Services Building at Sale Hospital will mean that local healthcare workers can provide the best care, from modern, fit-for purpose workspaces."
