Loch Sport victory
Mr O'Brien said, "This is welcome news for the Loch Sport community which has been campaigning for action on erosion for more than a decade. I have been calling on the Allan Labor government for years to deliver more than talk and I'm pleased to see progress finally being made. The foreshore and the boat ramp are vital community assets and it's a relief to know that works are on track to begin early next year."
Mr O'Brien acknowledged the perseverance of local residents in keeping pressure on the government. "Without the tireless efforts of the Loch Sport community, we would not have reached this point. This is their win and I congratulate everyone who has kept up the fight for action."
Mr O'Brien also welcomed the confirmation that further groynes are still planned for the foreshore. "The three groynes that have been funded are a great start, but I remain concerned that more will be needed to protect the coastline in the long term. I will continue to push to ensure additional measures are delivered so that Loch Sport is properly protected into the future."
