Council is upgrading four local playspaces and we’d love to hear what you think about the new designs. The playspaces set for renewal are located at:

  • Rodney Court Reserve, Wonthaggi
  • Strongs Reserve, Wonthaggi
  • Park Parade Reserve, Cape Paterson
  • Jaycee Picnic Reserve, Ventnor

Each upgrade will include a mix of existing and new play equipment, giving every space a fresh new look while retaining well-loved equipment that’s still in great working condition.

In 2026‑27, council will refresh four playspaces with new equipment, landscaping, and two design options-community feedback is invited to choose preferred designs

Playspace upgrades planned

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead, said Council is excited to deliver the upgrades using a more sustainable approach. "This is a more sustainable way of refreshing our playspaces and means we can add more equipment and play value at each location - which ultimately means more fun for kids and families. There are two design options for each playspace, with some shared elements and some differences. We’d really like to know which design the community prefers."

Designs for each reserve are available to view, and feedback can be shared via Council’s Engage Bass Coast website [ Know more about the Playspace Renewal 2026-27 engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au/playspace-renewal-2025-26 ] Council will also host pop-up sessions at each reserve in January to hear directly from families and regular users of the playspaces.

Pop-up sessions - Tuesday 13 January:

  • Rodney Court Reserve, Wonthaggi: 10.00am - 11.00am
  • Park Parade Reserve, Cape Paterson: 11.30am - 12.30pm
  • Strongs Reserve, Wonthaggi: 1.00pm - 2.00pm
