Caydence Bezzina, Cooper Stanley, Sam Pearson and Jenna Goldney from Glen Eira Leisure won the 2025 Life Saving Victoria Pool Lifeguard Challenge, defeating 23 teams for their fourth consecutive championship Showcasing lifeguard skillsThe Pool Lifeguard Challenge involved more than seven hours of gruelling competition at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Participants were pitted against one another in a range of events including simulated emergency incidents, medical treatments, and people management scenarios that put their real-world water safety and rescue skills to the test. The annual event is an opportunity for some friendly, fun and fierce competition, and provides a valuable platform for team-based learning, developing critical thinking and professional growth. Life Saving Victoria Senior Manager - Aquatic Industry Services Alek Olszewski said the event was a fantastic success. "It was terrific to see our pool lifeguards demonstrating their capabilities, and I congratulate and thank all involved for the outstanding efforts we saw today. On top of being a lot of fun, the event is key to helping our lifeguards keep their skills sharp and fresh so they're rescue-ready to keep our community safe in the water," Mr. Olszewski said.
