South gippsland Council creates new resources for native vegetation removal and mitigate bush fire risk
South Gippsland Shire Council helps reduce concerns around native vegetation removal with 'Native Vegetation Removal fact sheet'.
In an effort to help reduce concerns around native vegetation removal, South Gippsland Shire Council has created some new resources. One is a fact sheet that goes through some of the main questions we hear and the other is a simple flow chart that steps you through bushfire protection rules.
If your land is located in the Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO), you have the right to protect, there are still rules around the amount of native vegetation you can remove
Vegetation removal
In short, vegetation removal is allowed in some circumstances and a planning permit can sometimes be required. If you remove vegetation without a permit when one is required, penalties apply as it is an offence.
