Further funding to assist Gippsland businesses and community recovery from drought, bushfires and the coronavirus through federal Rebuilding Regional Communities Program
Local businesses and community groups can apply for funding to assist Gippsland as it recovers from the impacts of the coronavirus.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the Rebuilding Regional Communities Program is providing funding for community-led initiatives to assist with recovery. "Gippslanders have faced many challenges over the last few years with the combined impacts of drought, bushfires and the coronavirus and this will provide a much-needed boost to communities."
The Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal will administer the funding program
Creating economic opportunities
Mr Chester said, "Grants are designed to support communities in bouncing back by strengthening social connections, supporting jobs and creating economic opportunities. Community organisations have faced difficulties in raising funds and supporting the community with coronavirus restrictions and requirements."
Mr Chester also said groups could apply for two different streams of funding. "The Micro Projects stream will provide grants of up to $10,000 for regional communities with fewer than 50,000 people to help sustain local organisations and their work."
"The COVID Recovery stream will provide grants of up to $50,000 for larger projects that will enhance the recovery of communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic." Mr Chester said. For more information visit Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal page.
