Cafe Empowers Community

Operating alongside the Gallery's opening hours of 10am - 4pm daily, Mainstreet Cafe is a fantastic addition to the cultural precinct, offering delicious food and drinks in a welcoming, community-minded space. The Cafe also provides hands-on hospitality training and accredited courses for individuals and groups, particularly adults with a disability; helping create real pathways to learning and employment.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said the Cafe was a wonderful addition to the cultural precinct, a great place to grab a cuppa and a group making a difference as a true social enterprise. "Mainstreet Cafe is so much more than a place to grab a coffee, it's a space that creates opportunities for people of all abilities. Life Skills Victoria should be incredibly proud of the work they're doing to support inclusive training, education and employment in Latrobe City."

"The Cafe's opening marked an exciting moment for the Gallery and the wider community. It's the perfect place to relax, connect and enjoy great food while supporting a program that genuinely changes lives," said the Mayor.

Expanding inclusive opportunities

Life Skills Victoria CEO, Kyle Prasser said "Life Skills Victoria has been very lucky in establishing Mainstreet, where we have had the support of Latrobe City Council and the Gallery team from the outset."

"As an organisation that is always looking to grow its services and impact, we look forward to continuing to build equitable opportunities for people of all abilities through our programs and training both regionally, and throughout Victoria," said Kyle.
