Darren Chester delivers volunteer grant to support Traralgon RSL Bowls Group and boost junior participation
Darren Chester awarded a $1700 Volunteer Grant to Traralgon RSL Bowls Group, funding equipment to boost junior participation, support volunteers, and strengthen youth development as part of Gippsland's wider $63,000 program.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has delivered a $1700 grant to the Traralgon RSL Bowls Group to support volunteer efforts in boosting junior participation. Funding through the 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program will be used to purchase accessibility, sport, recreation and training equipment, helping the Traralgon RSL Bowls Group strengthen youth development and create more opportunities for young players.

Empower community volunteers
Mr Chester said volunteer grants are a small way of recognising the incredible work done by local volunteers, who give their time and energy to help build stronger, more cohesive communities. "Volunteer sporting organisations are at the heart of our Gippsland communities, bringing people together, keeping us active, and playing a vital role in developing the next generation of community leaders."
"This funding, while modest, gives the Traralgon RSL Bowls Group a helping hand, making it easier for them to attract young players, provide the right equipment, and continue delivering the programs that keep our communities strong and connected," Mr Chester said.
Supporting local volunteers
Mr Chester said Gippsland had a long and proud tradition of volunteering, and it was important to support those who give their time to help others. "Our communities rely on the generosity of volunteers who freely give their time and energy to make Gippsland a better place to live. By supporting local volunteer-based clubs and groups, we're helping to ensure they can keep making a real difference," Mr Chester said.
Traralgon RSL Bowls Group is one of 21 not-for-profit community organisations across Gippsland to share in more than $63,000 as part of the Federal Government's 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program.
