Upgrading racing facilities

The Drouin Picnic Racing Club will use the grant to purchase temporary marquees, umbrellas, tables, and chairs for race day comfort. Thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing clubs will receive grants of up to $100,000 to deliver projects that upgrade function spaces, improve public amenities and purchase new equipment - ensuring racegoers and communities can enjoy these venues all year round.

Under the Regional Customer Facilities Program, funded through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund, regional race clubs can apply for grants to support projects that improve facilities and encourage greater community use. The regional racing industry contributes $1.17 billion to the Victorian economy each year and supports more than 9,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the state.

Backing regional racing

Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines said, "We're proud to back our regional racing clubs - they're at the heart of their communities and play a vital role in supporting local economies. These grants will give racegoers and locals access to better facilities that can be enjoyed well beyond race days. The regional racing industry contributes $1.17 billion to Victoria's economy and supports around 9,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the state's regions."

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "These upgrades will make Drouin Picnic Racing Club an even better place for locals and visitors to come together - not just on race days, but for community events all year round. Racing is such an important part of life here in Eastern Victoria and these improvements will help keep Drouin Picnic Racing Club a great place for locals and visitors to come together."
