Baw Baw Shire Council hosts Seniors Festival 2025, featuring free events and activities celebrating connection, creativity and positive ageing

Baw Baw Shire celebrates Victorian Seniors Festival October 2025 with free events, workshops, garden tours, and activities, encouraging seniors to connect, create, celebrate, and enjoy free public transport across Victoria.

Baw Baw Shire Council is proud to support the Victorian Seniors Festival as it returns this October with a range of free and low-cost events. This year’s Victorian Seniors Festival theme - Connect, Create, Celebrate - invites Victoria’s Senior Community to come together, discover new interests and celebrate positive ageing. The festival encourages everyone to get involved, share joy and have fun.

Local events guide

The Local Event Guide for the Baw Baw Shire is available now in hardcopy from the West Gippsland Arts Centre, Baw Baw Shire Council Customer Service Centre in Drouin and many other retailers. You can find a full list of collection locations or download a digital copy of the guide by visiting the Baw Baw Shire Council website.

This year's local event guide features a great range of activities. From card making to drawing, garden talks and tours to physical activity classes, there is sure to be something for everyone. Connect or re-connect with your interests, skills and hobbies. Join in events and meet new people in-person and online, build practical skills, make friendships and new social connections.

Baw Baw Shire Council Mayor, Cr Danny Goss, is encouraging residents to get involved. "There are lots of wonderful community events happening across the Baw Baw Shire for the Victorian Seniors Festival this October. I encourage those who are interested to get involved and make the most of the activities this great program has to offer."

Seniors festival events

Baw Baw Shire Council is proud to be hosting two free garden talk and tour events as part of this year's festival line up. Come along for morning tea and a tour of Alex Goudie Park Drouin, on Monday 13 October, and Civic Park Warragul, on Monday 20 October to learn about these beautiful historic parks, how they are maintained and the trees, shrubs and flowers on display.

Registration is free but bookings are essential and can be made by phoning Baw Baw Shire Council on 1300 229 229. Victorian Seniors Card holders can also access 8 days of free public transport across Victoria from 5 to 12 October 2025. This includes travel across all metropolitan services, V/Line train and coach services, and selected regional bus services outside of the myki-enabled area.
