Farming a way

Ms Bath said growing up on a dairy farm taught her that each sunrise means constant work, resilience and respect for the land and animals. "Every day, our farmers combine planning, innovation and determination to produce world-class food and fibre. Farming is more than a job - it’s a way of life and farmers don’t just work the land - they live, love and enhance it."

"Victoria’s agriculture industry delivers incredible diversity - dairy, beef, lamb, pork, chicken, crops, eggs, wool, and a growing range of niche agrifoods for both domestic and international markets. As Australia’s largest agricultural producer, Victoria contributes about 25 per cent of the nation’s output. It employs more than 150,000 people, including 73,000 in primary production and 77,000 in food and beverage manufacturing," Ms Bath said.

Supporting Victorian farmers

Ms Bath added, "Victoria is home to over 21,000 farm businesses so it’s important to protect our agricultural sector and safeguard the land that drives prosperity in our regions. Behind every meal served at our tables is the hard work and unwavering commitment of our farmers."

"The Nationals are committed to supporting, promoting and valuing our primary producers and manufacturers in this essential industry. Given the enormous contribution our farmers make to our communities, our economy, and the wellbeing of every Victorian, this week is the perfect time to say thank you and reaffirm that you stand with the land," Ms Bath said.
