South Gippsland THREADS exhibition opens at Coal Creek Community Park and Museum in Korumburra on 9 March 2023
A new exhibition called 'THREADS' is on now at Coal Creek Community Park and Museum.
The South Gippsland THREADS exhibition features artworks and objects within the theme of women and textile/fibre arts. Alongside artworks from the South Gippsland Shire Council and Coal Creek collections, there will be works from the Coal Creek Spinners and invited artists Sarah Parkes, Cresside Collette and Deborah Klein.
The THREADS exhibition will run from 6 March to 1 May 2023. Coal Creek is open 10.00am to 4.00pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and daily during school holidays
Support the exhibition
A 'People's Choice Award' will be held during the exhibition which will give visitors the opportunity to vote for their favourite artwork or object by a local artist or group. The artist or group behind the selected work will win a membership/renewal to an arts organisation or network up to the value of $300. An official opening for the exhibition will be held Thursday 9 March and everyone is welcome to attend.
The opening will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Coal Creek Community Park and Museum in Korumburra. Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "The THREADS exhibition is a terrific example of the amazing artistic talent we have here in South Gippsland. Each of the artists have interpreted the theme in a different way and the use of textiles and fibre materials is truly impressive. I would like to encourage community members to visit Coal Creek to view this unique exhibition."
