East Gippsland Festivals and Raymond Island Community Association get $32,100 funding from Foundation for Regional & Rural Renewal

East Gippsland Festivals and Raymond Island Community Association received $32,100 in grants from the Foundation for Regional & Rural Renewal for local projects.

Two local community groups have received funding from the Foundation for Regional & Rural Renewal for projects that benefit the region and community. Local MP Darren Chester said the Foundation for Region & Rural Renewal (FRRR) had awarded grants to seven Gippsland groups through the Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) Program. "Grants were awarded to groups to help with local priority projects, disaster recovery and also recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic."

Shared funding received

Mr Chester said, "East Gippsland Festivals and Raymond Island Community Association will share in $32,100 in funding. East Gippsland Festival received $7,100 to help with social and economic recovery following the Black Summer Bushfires. As part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival there will be three curated walks in the Omeo region for visitors to explore and see more of the region."

"Raymond Island Community Association received $25,000 to improve accessibility and create an inclusive community gathering space at the Raymond Island hall which can be used in times of emergency or natural disaster. These projects will make a real difference to each community and ensure facilities are suitable for all users and volunteers."

  • Morwell Historical Society
  • Budgeree Hall Reserve
  • Next Gen Theatrical
  • Cowwarr Recreation Reserve Committee of Management
  • Golden Paradise Beach Ratepayers and Residents' Association

Mr Chester said Gippsland received $74,560 in grants throughout the electorate. "The FRRR receives funding from a range of sources including the federal government to directly support our regional and rural communities. It is fantastic to see so many local projects receiving support and improving facilities for the community now and into the future."
