Latrobe City Council seeks community feedback on Draft Community Engagement Policy to enhance transparency and inclusivity
Community engagement helps Latrobe City Council understand diverse views, ensuring responsive decisions on projects, infrastructure, policies, and services. The current Community Engagement Policy expires in April 2025, with updates now in progress.
Latrobe City Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Community Engagement Policy, which is now open for community consultation. As council's current Community Engagement Policy is due to expire in April 2025, a preliminary draft has been developed. The draft incorporates the Community Engagement Principles outlined in the Local Government Act and reaffirms council's commitment to transparent, inclusive, and meaningful engagement in decision-making processes.

Shaping Latrobe's future
Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman encouraged residents to share their thoughts and help shape the future of community engagement in Latrobe City. "Community engagement is a cornerstone of Latrobe City Council's operations, providing the opportunity to understand the wide range of views, insights, and issues in our region. Engaging with the community is vital to ensuring our policies and projects reflect the needs and aspirations of the people we serve."
"As a council we are committed to open, honest, and informed engagement, which helps to promote fairness and transparency across all council activities. We want to engage often and widely with everyone in the community. Your input is essential to ensure the policy reflects best practices and the needs of our community," said the Mayor.
