By news@gippsland - 15th October 2025 - Back to News The Latrobe City Children's Expo will return next week as part of National Children's Week celebrations. The Expo will be held at Kernot Hall in Morwell on Thursday 23 October 2025 from 1pm to 6pm and will bring together a host of fun entertainment for children and their families and carers, including a magician, animals, hands-on activities, jumping castle and more. There will also be a range of information stalls, featuring local businesses and service providers. 
Children's Week highlights Latrobe City's commitment to families, featuring the Teddy Bear Hospital by Monash University student volunteers promoting health, care, and education Supporting young familiesLatrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman encouraged all families, especially those with children under five to attend the Expo. "The Expo will be a fantastic opportunity for our youngest residents and their families to enjoy an afternoon out, with lots of interactive activities and entertainment, as well as information about a range of services on offer in Latrobe City." "Making sure our services and facilities are accessible to children is a key priority for the council, helping them to have the best possible start to life. We also focus on making sure our community spaces such as Libraries, Latrobe Leisure facilities, Latrobe Regional Gallery and Gippsland Performing Arts Centre are places where children feel welcomed and an important part of our community," said the Mayor. Celebrating Children's WeekChildren's Week celebrations are part of Latrobe City's broader commitment to supporting children and their families through delivering care, education and health services. This year will be the first time the Expo will feature the Teddy Bear Hospital, run by student volunteers from Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at Monash University. The Teddy Bear Hospital is a fun, interactive program designed to give children positive healthcare experiences while promoting health and wellbeing. Kids bring along their favourite teddy (or soft toy) for a special check-up and learn all about healthy habits in a safe and playful environment. Bookings can be made via Eventbrite website. Teddy Bear HospitalHamish Quick, Rural Coordinator- Gippsland, 2025 Monash Teddy Bear Hospital Committee said, "The Monash Teddy Bear Hospital is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to alleviate 'white coat anxiety' - the fear of going to the doctor or hospital that many young children may have. During our events, stations are set up that simulate real-life hospital or GP experiences that the young children may encounter, providing them an opportunity to engage with our enthusiastic Teddy Bear doctors (student volunteers) in a fun and educational way." Some examples include asthma, X-ray, allergies, and many more interactive stations. We look forward to seeing your children and their teddies at Kernot Hall on 23 October," Hamish Quick said.
