By news@gippsland - 24th May 2004 - Back to News

The information session begins at 7.30pm in the council’s Wellington Room at 70 Foster Street Sale. Key speakers will be Belinda Hill from the Department of Sustainability and Environment, Greg Gilbert from Waterwatch, Charles McCubbin and Paul Boon from Victoria University.

The session will be informative and educational and address crucial issues including the role of wetlands to local wildlife, and monitoring programs in place to protect these.

Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Webb: "We are extremely lucky to have internationally recognised wetlands located within our shire at the Sale Common and surrounding the Gippsland Lakes.

"The council is committed to preserving these vital areas and to initiate forums to inform our communities about these initiatives and what they can do to assist."

Further information or to register for the evening please telephone Wellington’s Environmental Planner Colleen Murphy on 1300 266 344.
