Danny O'Brien advocated for Gippsland South improved connectivity seeing new mobile towers by early 2025
Gippsland South will gain enhanced connectivity with new mobile towers from the state government's Connecting Victoria program. The rollout includes 98 projects, with key sites like Tarra Valley and Sale receiving new towers by early 2025.
Gippsland South can look forward to better connectivity as the region is set to secure more mobile towers to be delivered through the state government's Connecting Victoria program. The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien has campaigned for a better focus on regional telecommunications after previous revelations the Connecting Victoria program was subsidising inner city areas that are already well-served by commercial operators.

Gippsland mobile rollout
Mr O'Brien recently wrote to the Minister for Government Services, Gabrielle Williams, to seek a timeline for these important projects as a follow up to advice received in February 2023 that a new Optus tower would be delivered to Toongabbie.
"I have now received advice that the Toongabbie Optus tower is on track to be completed early 2025. In addition to this I am told we can expect to see the rollout of a further 98 mobile projects across Gippsland under this project," Mr O'Brien said.
Enhanced mobile coverage
Mr O'Brien said a number of these projects will be in Gippsland South including new Telstra towers in Tarra Valley, Boolarra, Callignee, Jeeralang, Dumbalk, Flynn, Leongatha and Sale North as well as Optus towers in Sale, Sale East, Sandy Point, Toora and Yanakie South.
"These towers are all scheduled to be completed within the 2024-25 financial year and I will be keeping a close eye on their progress. Many regional Victorians rely on reliable mobile coverage to access crucial services such as online education or telehealth and they deserve the same level of coverage as our city counterparts," Mr O'Brien said.
