Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester has welcomed the installation of the first piece of artwork marking the commencement of the Krauatungalang Walk project in Lakes Entrance. Mr Chester said today's unveiling of the Borun and Tuk sculpture was a significant milestone in the project to build an all abilities accessible walkway on the shores of the Gippsland Lakes.

Mr Chester said, "The sculpture invites visitors to understand the creation story of Gippsland's Gunaikurnai people and will be an iconic part of our foreshore for generations to come. It's a beautiful collaboration between local artists, Alfie Hudson, Col Little and Deb Milligan, that also provides a practical purpose as a seat along the pathway. The opportunity for respect, recognition and reconciliation while locals and visitors enjoy a healthy outdoor lifestyle will make Krauatungalang Walk extremely popular."

Mr Chester secured federal government funding for the project which is being managed by the East Gippsland Shire Council and the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLAWAC). GLAWAC was responsible for the artwork and contracts for the first stage of the boardwalk are expected to be signed soon.
