Tree Planting Trailer Available For Community Use

Latrobe City Council has a tree planting trailer available for the community to use at tree planting days and associated events.

With autumn considered by many to be the best time of the year to establish native vegetation, the reminder is timely.

The trailer is an initiative designed to help increase the resources available to the community to help with projects which aim to protect native bush and revegetate cleared areas in Latrobe.

The tree planting trailer can be loaned free of charge by community groups and individuals who are running native vegetation revegetation projects in Latrobe City.

Latrobe City’s environmental planner, Michelle Hutchins, said the trailer is a great tool for schools, Landcare groups, bushland reserve committees of mangagement, and any other groups or individuals within the municipality undertaking revegetation projects.

"Not only is the trailer functional, containing all the tools and accessories to make projects easier to undertake, but it is colourful. Artwork on the trailer depicts local native animals which rely on indigenous habitat for their survival," Ms Hutchins said.

The trailer stores tree planting equipment including Hamilton tree planters, buckets, mattocks and shovels, and can also be used to transport native tree seedlings to planting days. The trailer can also carry 300 litres of water.
