The Draft Lion’s Park Master Plan has been shaped by feedback, with a strong focus on creating welcoming and inclusive spaces - particularly for young women and girls. This focus responds to a reduction in female participation in sport and recreation and is central to Stage 1 of the proposed improvements.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cindy Madeley said the Draft Master Plan presents an important opportunity for the community to help shape the future of one of Sale’s key open spaces. "Lion’s Park is an important community asset and this Draft Master Plan is about ensuring it continues to meet the needs of current and future generations," the Mayor said.

"We heard clearly from the first round of consultation that inclusive, safe and welcoming spaces-particularly for young women and girls - are a priority, and this Draft reflects that feedback. I encourage everyone to take the time to review the plan and share their views." - Mayor Cindy Madeley

The Draft Master Plan builds on extensive community consultation undertaken earlier in the project, including workshops and a community survey. A summary of this initial feedback is available to view online alongside the Draft Master Plan on the Your Wellington, Your Say platform.

The final Master Plan will outline a long-term vision that reflects community needs, protects the natural environment, manages stormwater effectively, and follows best practice design principles for public open space. A staged approach to improvements will ensure Lions Park continues to support health, wellbeing and lifestyle outcomes for generations to come.

The Wellington Shire Council is inviting community members to review the Draft Master Plan and provide feedback by completing the survey, helping to ensure the Lion’s Park becomes a more active and welcoming space.
