Baw Baw Shire Council appoints Mick Cummins as Acting CEO to guide organisation through transition

Baw Baw Shire Council has appointed Mick Cummins as Acting CEO until mid-December. Cummins brings extensive local government experience and will support organisational priorities as Council reviews longer-term arrangements, Mayor Kate Wilson said.

Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the appointment of Mick Cummins as the organisation's Acting Chief Executive Officer. Mr Cummins will step into the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer until mid-December to support the organisation's immediate needs.

Mr Cummins commenced with Baw Baw Shire Council in June 2025 following an extensive career in Local Government, where he has held several Executive roles including most recently, where he served as the CEO of Bayside City Council for seven years. Since joining Baw Baw, Mick has used his strong track record of transformative change and implementation of pragmatic strategies to support our Finance and Corporate Strategy teams.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson thanked Mr Cummins for supporting the organisation through this period. "The Councillor group will work through longer-term logistics and organisational impacts over the coming months, and we will keep all staff and the wider community informed of any developments," she said.
