Recreation Grants Funding

Baw Baw Shire Council has recently secured $28,000 in state government funding for the Trafalgar Recreation Precinct Masterplan and Gippsland Synthetic Hockey Feasibility Study.

Council will match the $13,000 in state government funding for the Trafalgar masterplan and will join with other Gippsland councils in collectively matching $15,000 in funding for the hockey feasibility study, according to council chief executive officer Glenn Patterson.

"The Trafalgar Recreation Precinct Masterplan is a natural progression to develop a comprehensive design, budget, funding and management plan endorsed by the Trafalgar community and council.

"The plan will examine what the recreation facility will look like, costs involved, funding requirements and options," said Mr Patterson.

The Gippsland Synthetic Hockey Feasibility Study will determine the viability, location and costs involved with installation and maintenance of synthetic hockey facilities in the Gippsland region.

"Hockey is growing in popularity in the Gippsland region and we need to plan for appropriate facilities for users.

"This study will help determine the best locations and costs involved in providing hockey facilities for the community," said Mr Patterson.

It’s expected that both the Trafalgar masterplan development and the hockey feasibility study will start in mid August; both are expected to be complete by December this year.
