A total of 28 projects targeting groups involved with disability services, older citizens and the Shire’s youth will receive a share of the funding, which will facilitate programs that help address health and fitness, nutrition and preventing social isolation.

Briagolong, Dargo, Gormandale, Golden & Paradise Beaches, Port Albert, Rosedale and Tarra Bulga are each receiving funding for a key project. Three initiatives will receive a welcome boost in Heyfield, four in Sale, seven in Yarram, and two each in Loch Sport and Maffra. In addition, there are three Shire-wide initiatives that will receive funding under the scheme.

Said Wellington Shire Mayor John Jago: "We are delighted to be able to reward and support the invaluable services provided by local not-for-profit community groups through these grants.

The work of these groups is vital to the Shire community as a whole providing significant long-term benefits to our quality of life. We greatly appreciate the dedication of all involved."
