Boosting local projects

The grants of between $5,000 and $50,000 will help local communities across Victoria flourish, and in many cases, support local workers during project development. The Gippsland Vehicle Collection will receive $50,000 through the fund - which will contribute towards the replacement of the Collection's roof. The Maffra-Sale Motorcycle Club will also receive $50,000 for toilet block refurbishments, and the Dargo Bush Nursing Centre has been gifted $20,480 for an upgrade to the Dargo Community House's facilities.

Other local investments include $16,375 to the Heyfield War Memorial Hall, for the installation of new aluminium windows, $18,400 to the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail through Heyfield, and $18,000 to the Yarram Scout Group for a child-safe rear fence. The fund is a part of the Labor government's record $45 billion investment over the past decade in projects and programs that support regional and rural Victoria. Empowering rural towns

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes said, "Rural and Regional Victoria has so much to offer, which is why we're continuing to support projects that enhance our tiniest towns, strengthen community connections and encourage more visitors to all corners of the State."

"The Tiny Towns Fund is refreshing community halls, creating new walking tracks, upgrading local sporting facilities and boosting the regional art scene, making our smallest towns great places to live, work, stay and play."

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh said, "I grew up in a tiny regional Victorian town, and you see just how hard volunteers work to make these such incredible places - and I'm pleased to see them supported."

Tiny towns boost

Gippsland Vehicle Collection Operations Manager Sue Lawrence said, "We are surprised and delighted to have been awarded $50,000 by way of a Tiny Town's grant. Our sincere thanks go to the managers of the fund for selecting our project."

"The funds will assist us in our quest to raise over 1 million dollars to replace our ageing asbestos roof.. The Gippsland Vehicle Collection has been in operation for over 20 years and plays an important part in the lives of many people whether they be members, volunteers and/or visitors," said Ms Lawrence.
