Melina Bath urges communities to honour veterans' families and support Legacy Week fundraising efforts
Melina Bath urges communities to support Legacy Week, honouring veterans' families. Funds raised provide financial, educational and emotional support, continuing Sir Stanley Savige's century-old vision of care, compassion and mateship.
The Nationals' Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath, is encouraging local communities to support Legacy Week, running from August 31 to September 6, and honour the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families.
Founded in 1923 by Sir Stanley Savige, Legacy embodies mateship and compassion, supporting veterans' families and honouring sacrifice for over a century
Legacy of service
Legacy was founded in Victoria in 1923 by Sir Stanley Savige, who had deep ties to the Latrobe Valley and South Gippsland. A man of bravery in war and compassion in peace, Sir Stanley's vision to care for veterans' families continues more than a century later.
Funds raised during Legacy Week provide vital support, from financial and educational assistance to building a community of strength and compassion for those left behind. Ms Bath said Legacy Week is a time for Australians to reflect on the enduring impact of service and show gratitude to veterans' families.
Honouring veteran families
Ms Bath said, "Legacy reflects the Australian spirit of mateship and compassion. For generations, they have stood by the families of our veterans and ensured that sacrifice is never forgotten. It is also important to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Legatees, RSL volunteers and supporters who make Legacy Week possible each year. Each badge bought or donation made helps uphold the dignity of those who've given so much."
This Legacy Week, Australians are encouraged to wear a badge with pride, knowing that every contribution provides hope, security and dignity to the families of those who served our nation.
