Loch Sport residents will have an ideal opportunity to have their say on Council services and issues affecting them when Councillors and senior officers from Wellington Shire Council host their next community meeting in the township on Tuesday 10 June.

The informal meeting is being held at Loch Sport Public Hall, starting at 7pm, and will include details of Council projects and programmes, with brief presentations on:

  • proposals to install colourful bathing boxes on the local foreshore to help raise the tourism profile of the township;
  • the Gippsland Coastal Strategy plan to enhance the character and amenities of townships along the Wellington coast and boost tourist numbers.

Those attending will be able to share their news and views with the Council – ensuring it leaves with a good understanding of key issues.

Councillors and senior officers tour a different locality in Wellington each month as part of an ongoing process of consultation and communication with everyone who lives in the Shire. Prior to each community meeting they make a point of visiting various facilities and seeing local community representatives and groups.

Said Wellington’s Mayor John Jago: "These events are invaluable and give everyone the opportunity to engage in friendly and informal discussion on various issues of interest, to ensure we all work together for the benefit of the local community and the Shire.

"We would encourage as many people from Loch Sport as possible to attend the coming meeting so that their voice can be heard."

After Loch Sport, the community meetings move to Heyfield on 8 July and Port Albert on 12 August.
