Jenni Keerie and John Schelling join Fight MND Big Freeze at Korumburra Middle Pub and South Gippsland Shire Council updatesSouth Gippsland Shire Council update on their current and upcoming projects. By news@gippsland - 6th June 2024 - Back to News On Sunday, South Gippsland Shire Councillors Jenni Keerie and John Schelling participated in the Fight MND Big Freeze. Raising funds for motor neurone disease (MND) the two were dunked into sub-zero degree water for a more than worthy cause. Held at the Korumburra Middle Pub, it was great to see the community rally together and show such widespread support. 
On Sunday, South Gippsland Shire Councillors Jenni Keerie and John Schelling participated in the Fight MND Big Freeze, held at the Korumburra Middle Pub Food and Fibre GippslandCongratulations to the Food and Fibre Gippsland Award winners. We would also like to specially mention Fleming Berries and Dividing Creek Farm Honey for being finalists in the awards - a massive achievement for two of South Gippsland's amazing businesses. Fleming Berries is a prominent agribusiness located in Korumburra that specialises in the cultivation of premium quality berries. A new solar-lit public toilet will be installed at Bena bus terminal, featuring rainwater handwashing and efficient waste disposal by summer New Bena public toiletA new Public Toilet soon will be installed in Bena at the bus terminal on Bass Valley Road. Key features of the facility include: - Prime location that suits residents, McGrath Park users, commuters, cyclists and pedestrians (particularly those who use the Great Southern Rail Trail)
- Solar-powered lighting system to ensure safety
- Rainwater tank for hand washing
- Pump-out collection well system to prioritise efficient waste disposal and maintain hygiene standards
- Pre-fabrication of the facility will be done remotely to ensure minimal disruption to the site
At this stage, it is expected that the new Public Toilet will be installed ready for the busy summer season.
