The work is a drawing in oil pastel and is the second piece in Council’s collection from Doveton artist, Do Noble.

‘Kitchen Delights’ won the major prize at the Corinella and District Community Centre (C&DCC) Traditional Art Show, judged by well-known Corinella artist, Judith Garde.

Council’s Community and Economic Development Services Acting Director, Felicity Sist, said this was the 17th year Council had acquired art from the C&DCC art show, with ‘Kitchen Delights’ bringing the total collection to 72.

"The pieces Council has in its Art Acquisition collection are usually those that receive first prize or best in show," Ms Sist said.

"Our pieces are mainly paintings, but we do have one photograph, one sculpture and now three drawings."

Works are located at all of Council’s Customer Service Centres, in the Council Chambers and foyer at the Wonthaggi office and through Council’s virtual gallery on the website.

An exhibition is being planned for May next year that will showcase Council’s art collection.

"The Art Acquisition collection is a wonderful way of supporting local arts events and in many cases, local artists," Ms Sist said.

"Council feels privileged to be able to provide a temporary home for such a varied and quality collection of artwork."
