Community groups invited to attend grants forum

Latrobe City Council is holding an information forum on the community grants program for 2006/2007, for all community groups or individuals providing programs and activities in the municipality.

Latrobe City mayor, councillor Lisa Price said that the forum would provide information on the specifics of the grant program.

"There will be information on what will and will not be funded; project categories; conditions of the grant as well as the application process.

"As well as the three standard categories, minor capital works, community development and events, there will be a new category this year - community venue hire. This will assist community groups who wish to use a council owned venue such as Kernot Hall and the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon," Cr Price explained.

"We strongly recommend that community groups attend the forum in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the grants programs. Application forms and guidelines will be distributed on the night and Latrobe City staff will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the grants program," Cr Price added.

The forum will be held on Wednesday 19 July 2006 from 7pm to 8pm at Kernot Hall, Morwell. Bookings are not necessary.
