Such partnerships include Council's representation on the South Gippsland/Bass Coast Local Safety Committee, involvement with Holiday Neighbourhood Watch Program in Sandy Point and supporting the Local Liquor Industry Accord.

Cr Bligh was representing Council last week at the Commissioner’s Dinner in Traralgon which is held regularly and alternates between city and country locations. The Dinner was attended by local government representatives and assistant commissioners from the five Victorian policing regions.

"It was a pleasant surprise," said Cr Bligh " But I’m delighted that the hard work and commitment of staff, Councillors and the community to these safety initiatives have been recognised"

" We enjoy a comparatively high level of personal safety and a low crime rate here in South Gippsland which we shouldn’t take for granted. Our great sense of community is a strong deterrent to criminals who don’t mind travelling to exploit complacent communities, so it is important to be proactive to maintain our community safety." she added
