This unique event brings vessels of all pedigrees together in a day of fun, on and off the water, for boating enthusiasts and the whole family alike. Activities include live entertainment, jumping castles for the children and a fantastic day out on Gippsland Lakes!

The aim of the game is for each boat to navigate through a chartered course featuring five checkpoints. At each designated check-point teams collect an envelope containing a single playing card, at the end of the course the envelopes are opened and the crew holding the best poker hand is declared the winner.

There is a 1st prize of $1,000 and $650 for 2nd place, with 3rd place receiving $350. Awards will also be given for best presented boat and best presented crew.

Entry is $90 per boat, which includes two crew members. Additional adult crew members are $10 and children under 16 are $5. The entry fee includes participation in the event, a cooked breakfast and a picnic lunch. As part of the event’s program, there is also a special Commodore’s Dinner being held for entrants following the event. This is not included in the entry fee.

The Loch Sport Poker Run is supported by Wellington Shire Council, the Loch Sport Boat Club and Web Ideas.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "Loch Sport is one of eastern Victoria’s most popular coastal towns and a wonderful holiday destinations, and is Wellington’s fastest growing town. This event is a great way for the local community to promote the fantastic boating facilities it has and is set to bring visitors to the area from across Gippsland and further afield.

"The town’s boating facilities recently received a boost with the upgrade and extension of its main boat ramp which was completed last December. The council contributed over $14,000 to this project, so it is great to see it being utilised for new events like this."
