Community Forum On Gippstafe FundingFollowing a Latrobe City Council resolution on 4 June a community forum will be held at Council’s corporate headquarters in Commercial Road, By Latrobe City - 22nd June 2012 - Back to News Morwell on Tuesday 26 June from 6pm to discuss the impact of a reduction in GippsTAFE funding.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that the Council had resolved to work with the community to understand the impacts of a reduction in funding.
"This kind of reduction in funds will have a wide-ranging impact not just on the TAFE community but on the wider community as a whole: from industry to commerce to further education. Bringing all the interested parties together in a forum will enable us to listen, discuss and debate the issues.
"We have assembled a panel to present to the forum including Joanne Stringer, Deputy President of the Board GippsTAFE and David Williams the Executive Director of the Victorian TAFE Association. Representatives from the student body and unions will also be on the panel," Cr Vermeulen said.
"We would encourage all members of the community to attend the forum. This is your chance to listen to those at the coalface, to ask your own questions and to gain a full understanding of all the issues. The forum will be an opportunity to work through the impacts on future education, skills development and training needs in the Valley, so make sure you attend," Cr Vermeulen concluded.
The community forum will be held at the corporate headquarters, Commercial Road, Morwell on Tuesday 26 June from 6pm. All are welcome to attend.
