Council and police to patrol Lake Narracan this long weekendLatrobe council working with Victoria police to ensure compliance on the local laws Labour Day long weekend. By news@gippsland - 4th March 2021 - Back to News Latrobe City Council is reminding everyone to act responsibly at Lake Narracan near Moe this Labour Day long weekend. Latrobe City Council and Victoria Police are working together to ensure compliance with Council’s local laws regarding no camping along the foreshore and rubbish dumping, in addition to water safety, drink driving and anti-social behaviour.
Lake Narracan will be patrolled by the police and council, follow the rules to ensure your own safety
Boat users are reminded that speed limits apply on Lake Narracan – five knots within 50 metres of the shore and 40 knots in other areas. A 0.05 blood alcohol limit applies to those over the age of 21 in charge of a boat, whether underway or at anchor. People under 21 must have a 0.00 blood alcohol concentration (BAC). No camping is permitted anywhere on the foreshore of Lake Narracan. Visitors must take their rubbish with them.
"Lake Narracan is a great natural asset for people to enjoy and brings locals as well as people from far and wide, so please don’t ruin it for others. Take care on the water to ensure your own safety and that of others, and please follow the rules," Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said.
Victoria Police will also be conducting increased patrols of Lake Narracan over the Easter long weekend. Anyone with concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour should phone Victoria Police on 000.
