Latrobe City will this week celebrate the launch of the Gippsland Small Business Festival – a month-long calendar of events aimed to inspire and upskill small to medium businesses.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said the festival is coordinated by the six Gippsland councils in conjunction with Small Business Victoria and there were a variety of events to interest any type of business.
"A highlight of the festival is a breakfast presentation by leading business innovator Dan Gregory at Century Inn on Tuesday, 23 August. Dan is the founder and CEO of The Impossible Institute, an organisation that advises management and sales departments on what drives their customers and employees."
"We are really pleased that we can attract such high calibre presenters to Gippsland. Dan has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands and having him present in Traralgon is fantastic opportunity for our local businesses.
"Latrobe City is also fortunate enough to host Australia’s best-known futurist, Chris Riddell, at Traralgon Vineyard on Wednesday, 10 August. Chris will explore the impact that technology is having on consumer behavior and shine a light on the new insights technology is providing to business owners about customers' needs.
"Other events include free business mentoring aboard the State Government's Small Business Bus; and seminars about workplace relations, improving your business with health and safety and cloud accounting and financial literacy."
Cr Rossiter said Council was thrilled to be a part of a festival that celebrates the role small and medium businesses play in the Latrobe City economy.
"I would encourage businesses to take advantage of this opportunity to gain knowledge or assistance in very relevant subjects, such as workplace relations, as well as take inspiration and practical advice from talks by Dan Gregory and Chris Riddell," Cr Rossiter concluded.
