Gippsland Water improves Heyfield water treatment plant with hexa-cover floating pads to enhancing water quality
Gippsland Water enhances Heyfield water treatment plant with new Hexa-Cover floating pads, reducing risks and preserving water quality for the community. Completed in June.
Gippsland Water has installed new Hexa-Cover floating pads at the Heyfield water treatment plant to improve water quality. The hexagonal pads replace larger outdated ones and were specifically designed to reduce raw water quality risks and prevent deterioration, such as algae growth and evaporation. Made with recycled polypropylene plastic, the lightweight pads provide a protective cover and prevent any bird activity.
New hexagonal pads replace outdated ones, designed to reduce water quality risks, prevent deterioration, and protect from bird activity. Completed in June, costing $350,000
The $350,000 project was completed in June with the removal of the original pads and the installation of 155,000 new ones, which cover 5500 square metres. The Hexa-Covers offer up to 95 percent water surface coverage and allow Gippsland Water to continue providing clean, safe drinking water to the Heyfield community. The Heyfield water treatment plant stores water from the Thomson River and services more than 2,000 people.
