Stage two of $110,000 new footpath along Eastwood Road in north Bairnsdale
East Gippsland Shire Council has begun Stage Two of a new footpath along Eastwood Road, Eastwood, north of Bairnsdale.
When the stage is complete, residents will have a footpath along Howitt Avenue (between Flinns Road and Eastwood Road) and north along Eastwood Road to the intersection of Timbarra Drive. From here, residents can travel along the 635-metre-long footpath completed in 2020, which takes them through to the area near the Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre.
The Eastwood Road footpath will be an important pedestrian link for people to access Eastwood's education and shopping precincts
Investing in new footpaths
The council-funded project will cost $110,000 and take up to 10 weeks to complete. Council invests in new footpaths and shared paths every year because it is important to improve pedestrian safety and make the region more inclusive for people with mobility issues. Completing this path network will make a significant difference for students wishing to walk to school and support our community being and staying active.
