Heyfield Community Meeting – 8 July

Heyfield residents are being encouraged to have their say on Council services and issues affecting them when Councillors and senior officers from Wellington Shire Council host their next community meeting in the township on Tuesday 8th July.

The informal meeting is being held in the Heyfield Memorial Hall starting at 7.00pm and will include brief presentations from Council officers on the new Heyfield Racecourse Wetlands Information Centre and the proposed upgrade of the Heyfield Library.

Those attending will be able to ask questions and raise any issues of interest or concern to the local community.

Councillors and senior officers tour a different locality in Wellington each month as part of an ongoing process of consultation and communication with everyone who lives in the Shire. Prior to each community meeting, they make a point of visiting various facilities and meeting local community representatives and groups.

Said Wellington’s Mayor John Jago: "Our program of community visits always proves very worthwhile for both Council and local residents. They are an excellent way for people to find out what their Council is doing that affects them, and also for Councillors to learn first-hand what local issues are of importance in the town."

After Heyfield, the community meetings move to Port Albert on 12 August and Cowwarr on 9 September.
