Latrobe Leisure And Arts Facilities Welcome Carer Card Holders
Latrobe City Council has embraced the new Victorian Government carer card initiative, providing concession rate entry across its leisure and recreation facilities.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said that the card gave carers the opportunity access a wide range of facilities and services at reduced rate.
"We recognise that there are many carers in our community, who go about their business in an unrecognised way. These are people who are caring for a family member who may have a physical or mental disability, be frail or aged, require palliative care or they may even be a foster or kinship carer. The burden on carers is high, in terms of time, physical and emotional effort, and financial outlay.
"We are delighted to be able to offer holders of the carer card concession rates for entry to all Latrobe Leisure facilities and outdoor pools, the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre and all public programs at the Latrobe Regional Art Gallery," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"We value the contribution carers make in our community. If there is any way, however small, that we can make their lives easier, we will take that opportunity," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
Details of eligibility criteria, how to apply, and the growing range of lifestyle, retail, travel and other discounted services on offer to card holders, is available at www.carercard.vic.gov.au.
