In addition, on the same day, DSE will also introduce fire restrictions on private property within 1.5kms of public land (Fire Protected Area) in the Baw Baw Shire, north of the Princes Highway.

Please note that DSE has already introduced restrictions within 1.5kms of public land in East Gippsland on November 22.

This means that no fires can be lit on private or public land without a permit from the local Shire. Permits are subject to stringent conditions and obtainable from the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer at Shire offices.

Permits for burning off in the Fire Protected Area (within 1.5kms of public land) of the above Shires can be obtained from the Fire Management Officer at your nearest DSE office.

Landholders should also remember that when fire restrictions are in force, they must carry a fire extinguisher or knapsack sprayer on all farm machinery at all times.

There are also regulations around using welding, cutting and grinding equipment during fire restrictions. Contact your local CFA brigade for details.

For more information on permits and fire restrictions in your area, please contact your local CFA brigade or the Fire Management Officer at your nearest DSE office.
