Free Chemical Collections In Wellington

Wellington Shire Council is inviting local agricultural and vet chemical users to register for free collection of unwanted chemicals in the coming months under the ChemClear program.

By news@gippsland - 4th July 2005 - Back to News

ChemClear is a recently-launched, nation-wide initiative that addresses disposal problems faced by chemical users by offering the collection of currently registered, obsolete rural chemicals manufactured by Avcare, the Veterinary Manufacturers and Distributors Association and the Distributors Association member companies.

Group 1 chemical collections are free for registered categories, while a fee applies for the collection of unregistered Group 2 chemicals.

This new initiative - provided by Agsafe Limited with the Victorian Government contributing $50,000 to support Victorian collections – works in partnership with industry, government and farming communities to manage current and future waste issues.

Residents interested in benefiting from the program can contact ChemClear to register.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "This initiative is valuable in promoting a cleaner environment and safer farming practices across the shire. We encourage residents to participate in this initiative and register with ChemClear for the upcoming collection."

More information about this program is available by telephoning ChemClear on 1800 008 182 or by visiting its website at www.chemclear.com.au.
