Meetings shared around the Shire
Bass Coast Shire Council will now regularly hold Ordinary Council Meetings in Wonthaggi and Cowes, as well as meetings in Grantville and Inverloch annually as part of its newly adopted Ordinary Meeting Schedule.
Council resolved at last night’s meeting to alternate meetings between Wonthaggi and Cowes, with the exception of one meeting in Grantville and one in Inverloch.Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield, said while historically the majority of Ordinary Meetings were held at the Civic Centre in Wonthaggi, Council wanted to make the meetings more accessible to communities throughout the Shire.
"We understand that being able to attend 5.00pm meetings in Wonthaggi isn’t always possible for many people, especially when it means having to make at least an hour round trip late in the evening," Cr Rothfield said.
"Rotating our meeting locations mean more community members will have a chance to attend Council meetings throughout the year, take part in our question time and generally just have the opportunity to see how Council works and makes decisions on the behalf of our residents and ratepayers."
