Community advocacy succeeds
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe says she is thrilled with the news for the local community. "As a Council, all of our Councillors supported the community in advocating for this. We would like to thank each and every member of the community who spoke up and advocated for this service in Erica."
"While Council does not run kindergarten services in the Shire, we play a vital role in supporting our community and advocating for the needs of our future generations. This was an example of Council helping the community to advocate and be heard. This shows how Council can work closely with our community, businesses who operate in our Shire and the Victorian Government to get positive outcomes."
"We look forward to working with the Y Kinders and the Department of Education to ensure the continuation of a quality service for the Erica community. We will continue to advocate to ensure that this is a long-term commitment beyond just 2025," she said. Erica Preschool families will receive further communications from Y Kinders in due course, regarding enrolments, important dates and any updates to policies and procedures.
