Satisfaction With Shire Remains Steady

Satisfaction with East Gippsland Shire’s performance continues steady and at a generally high level according to the results of the Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey 2007.

The survey shows that of the 13 measures surveyed, 11 have remained unchanged and only two have decreased.

It also showed that 80 percent of residents believe the Shire’s performance has improved or remained the same over the past twelve months.

The Department for Victorian Communities undertakes the annual Community Satisfaction Survey in which 350 telephone interviews are conducted with the "head of the household" in 77 of Victoria’s 79 municipalities.

An independent market research organisation conducts the survey in each municipality and the results are placed in a database and benchmarked against previous years’ results.

The categories of overall performance, advocacy customer contact, health and human services, recreational services, public area appearance, waste management, by-law enforcement and economic development all showed improvement while planning, traffic management and parking, roads and footpaths and community engagement have were identified as needing improvement.

Shire CEO Steve Kozlowski said he was pleased with the survey result that showed the Shire was performing well and holding a steady course.

"It also shows where we can improve and we will be addressing these specific areas," he said.
